Contemporary Topics in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus | Onsite at HSS and Livestream Event | May 5, 2023 | 8:00 am – 5:00 pm ET Diagnosis and management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can be challenging but clinicians share the goal of improving outcomes for SLE patients, especially women of childbearing age, racial and ethnic minorities, those with high-risk conditions, concomitant diseases, and severe clinical manifestations. Topics covered will include: - Pathogenetic mechanisms that underlie systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), including clinical subsets, and understand how these mechanisms resulted in the development of target-based therapeutic mechanisms - Novel developments in clinical areas related to SLE, particularly in those with severe manifestations (e.g. lupus nephritis, cardiovascular disease), associated diseases (e.g. antiphospholipid syndrome), or potential high-risk conditions (e.g. pregnancy) to ensure the optimal diagnosis and management of patients - Utilization of recent national guidelines and relevant issues related to family planning and pregnancy for patients with SLE - New and emerging treatments, as well as therapeutic options for the treatment of SLE currently under investigation - Latest research on health disparities in SLE as well as strategies to mitigate its impact on patients from affected populations
