The final session of the first virtual Canadian Orthopedic Research Society (CORS) meeting was graciously opened by program chair Simon Kelley, who welcomed attendees and shared the history and growth of CORS, dating back to its founding in 1966 with just a few members to now hosting its 54th annual meeting with over 260 participants. Kelley announced an exciting lineup for the evening, which included the presentation of prestigious awards, a keynote lecture by Dr. Olufemi Ayeni, the J Édouard Samson Award winner recognized for his contributions to understanding and managing Femoracetabular Impingement (FAI). Dr. Ayeni's research includes a landmark randomized controlled trial and ongoing studies on impacts of sports specialization on adolescent hip health. Following Ayeni's presentation, Dr. Cari Whyne received the Ian Macnab Memorial lecture, highlighting the importance of teamwork in orthopedic research and innovation in developing new treatment approaches. The session concluded with the Founders Medal award ceremony and a transfer of leadership to the new president, Dr. Simon Kelley, applauding all speakers and the collaborative efforts that made the virtual meeting a success.
