Cavus Foot

Description

Mr Donatas Chlebinskas gives his expert insights in discussing foot deformities associated with hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies (HMSN), specifically Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The analysis highlights how muscle imbalances, such as the overpowering of the peroneus longus over the weakened tibialis anterior, lead to plantar flexion. It also describes the progression of deformities due to the weakness of the peroneus brevis, resulting in an inversion deformity often referred to as peritalar's inversion. Additionally, the segment notes that intrinsic foot muscles are among the first to experience atrophy, which can lead to clawing of the toes. In advanced stages, the atrophy will extend to the dominating proximal muscles.
