Conservative Management of Peroneal Tendon Tears
Description
Mr Donatas Chlebinskas gives his expert insights and discusses the conservative management approach for peroneal tendon tears, particularly focusing on acute partial tears that involve less than 50% of the tendon with no subluxation and in patients with low activity demands. The recommended treatment strategy includes a period of 4 to 6 weeks with annual mobilization and modification of activities to ensure safety. Rehabilitation for enhancing strength and stability is emphasized, alongside pain relief methods such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or ice therapy. Additionally, the use of bracing or orthotics is suggested to minimize strain on the affected tendon.
