Lessons Learnt over 10 Years with Arthroscopic Surgery of the Hip

Description

The webinar features a talk by Vikas Khanduja on the evolution and lessons learned in hip arthroscopy over the last 10 to 14 years. He begins by expressing gratitude to the organizers and acknowledges the pioneering efforts of Ricky Villar, who performed the first hip arthroscopy in the UK. Khanduja highlights the unprecedented growth in hip arthroscopy, with a 1400% increase in procedures since 2006, and how techniques have evolved significantly during that time. He shares critical lessons from his experience, focusing on comprehensive clinical examinations, advancements in diagnostic imaging like the 3D CT scan, the importance of diagnostic hip injections to understand pain origins, and the necessity of selecting patients likely to achieve good outcomes. Khanduja stresses the importance of teamwork in surgeries and the need for structured training and policy engagement to improve standards and practices. The session concludes with discussions on research collaborations, continuous learning, and a vision for future advances in hip surgery.
