Long-Term Use of High-Heeled Shoes
Description
Mr Donatas Chlebinskas gives his expert insights into how the prolonged use of high heels leads to a shift in weight towards the forefoot, resulting in increased plantar pressures and adaptive shortening of the Achilles tendon. Over time, this condition increases the risk of various foot deformities such as heel valgus, hammertoes, metatarsalgia, and instability in the ankle. Ultrasound and EMG studies have shown that this prolonged wear can cause atrophy and an imbalance in the intrinsic foot muscles, diminishing their stabilizing function and exacerbating forefoot deformities.
