MPFL Reconstruction

Description

Dr Laurie Hiemstra gives her expert insights into MPFL (medial patellofemoral ligament) reconstruction, and explains the surgical procedure and anatomy related to the graft placement. The MPFL graft is specifically placed within layer 2, which is situated just beyond the knee joint capsule. Although differentiating between the various layers can be challenging, Dr Hiemstra emphasizes that layer 2 is directly adjacent to the capsule of the knee joint, providing clarity on the surgical approach. This information is critical for understanding the proper technique and location for graft placement during the reconstruction.
