Müller-Weiss Disease

Description

Mr Donatas Chlebinskas gives his insights into Muller-Weiss disease, a rare condition characterized by spontaneous osteonecrosis of the navicular bone in adults. It can occur due to several factors including chronic mechanical overload, preexisting dysplasia or hyperplasia, and vascular compromise. This condition is distinct from Kohler's disease, which involves navicular osteonecrosis in children. Typical clinical findings of Muller-Weiss disease include dorsomedial midfoot pain and a paradoxical pes planus with hindfoot varus observed radiologically. The disease leads to a lateral collapse and medial protrusion of the navicular bone, which results in a comma-shaped sclerotic structure.
