Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus

Description

Mr Donatas Chlebinskas gives his expert insights and discusses the significance of MRI in diagnosing patients with suspected osteochondral lesions of the talus. He highlights that such lesions are often accompanied by additional pathologies, with up to one-third of patients experiencing these issues. Common associated injuries include peroneal tendon injuries, deltoid or syndesmotic injuries, synovial impingement, loose bodies, and osteophytes. The role of MRI is emphasized in accurately defining the characteristics of osteochondral lesions, such as their size, depth, and stability, while also identifying concurrent injuries that can influence both surgical planning and patient outcomes.
