Quadriceps Tendon Graft in ACL Reconstruction

Description

This VTT captures a detailed presentation by Peter Fauno from Aarhus University Hospital discussing the usability of quadriceps grafts in ACL reconstruction. Fauno illustrates the growing popularity of quadriceps tendon grafts as a viable alternative to traditional patellar and hamstring grafts, citing the advantages in terms of biomechanical properties, lower incidence of anterior knee pain, and less sensory loss. He also addresses historical biases against the quadriceps graft and highlights recent studies supporting its effectiveness. Throughout the talk, Fauno emphasizes the graft’s similar stability and clinical outcomes compared to its counterparts, as well as the technical nuances of harvesting the graft. He acknowledges the steeper learning curve associated with the quadriceps graft yet champions it for its superior characteristics and potential benefits in ACL surgery.
