Biography
Jonathan Kusins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
His research focuses on improving care for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders by expanding our understanding of biomechanics across various health domains. Before joining the University of Waterloo, Jonathan has professional research experiences both within industrial (NuVasive, Paragon 28) and academic (University of Western Ontario) environments. He has applied biomechanical principles in collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and commercialize medical devices aimed at improving patient outcomes.
At the University of Waterloo, Jonathan leads the Personalized Biomechanics (PB) research group, which is dedicated to advancing experimental imaging techniques and computational modeling to deepen our knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. His particular interest lies in refining pre-clinical biomechanics assessment tools to better understand and evaluate treatments for musculoskeletal disorders before their clinical implementation.
