Alistair Macey is shortly to take up post as a Consultant in Limb Reconstruction, Foot and Ankle Surgery and Trauma at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow.
Alistair’s initial education was in the sciences, obtaining an Honours Degree in Microbiology from Trinity College Dublin before studying Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Run through Trauma and Orthopaedic Training in the West of Scotland preceded a post CCT fellowship in Limb Reconstruction with Mr Bilal Jamal at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow followed by a years Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at King’s College Hospital, London.
Current research interests include two ring hexapod constructs, the use of coated intramedullary nails and hip fracture care. At King’s, he is a site Co-Investigator for the Zimmer Natural Nail Bactiguard Trial. Alistair is one of the authors of McRae’s Elective Orthopaedics textbook and is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, The Orthopaedic Trauma Society and the British Limb Reconstruction Society.
He has undertaken two Limb Reconstruction Missions to Gaza with the charity IDEALS.
