Professor Hemant Sharma is a leading consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon based in Hull. He has a specialist interest in lower limb surgery, particularly of the hip, knee and limb reconstruction.
As a highly qualified orthopaedic surgeon, he has a wide range of services to offer to his patients. He believes in a holistic approach towards his patients and believes in full patient involvement, especially patients undergoing surgery. His wide range of services includes hip and knee replacement, leg-lengthening, regenerative orthopaedics, complex foot and ankle surgery, bunion surgery, deformity correction and injections. Furthermore, he assists young patients with arthritis in the ankle and knee, with non-union (not-healing) of bones, mal-union of bones and bone infections, to name a few conditions.
Professor Sharma had his initial training in India and further training in Newcastle and the Yorkshire region. He underwent training for hip and knee arthroplasty as well as foot and ankle surgery in Yorkshire and did his limb reconstruction fellowship in Belfast and Italy. Since the completion of his training, he has continued to hone his skills through practising in both the public and private health sectors. He is an avid teacher and researcher who travels extensively within the UK and internationally, delivering lectures and teaching at various courses. He also runs internationally renowned deformity course at Hull.
