I have been a consultant spinal surgeon for the last 21 years. I have been head of the spinal surgery department at the Robert Jones Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry since 2005. I have also been the head of the Scoliosis and Children's deformity department at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool since 2009. After completing my orthopaedic residency training in Liverpool and Oswestry I undertook a fellowship at the Connecticut Medical Centre in Hartford Connecticut, USA. My clinical practice includes treatment of a vast variety of spinal disorders including back pain, spinal deformity, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, trauma and tumours. I am actively involved in undertaking charitable spinal surgery in underprivileged countries. I am an active member of the British Association of Spine Surgeons, the British Scoliosis Society and regularly participate in the scientific programmes at these societies.I have also been a member of the executive committee of the British Scoliosis Society.I am also on international faculty for many spine scientific programmes. I have used state of art techniques in surgery such as a 3D model of the spine and navigation for insertion of screws to enhance patient safety.
