Mr Jonathan Howell

Biography

Mr Jonathan Howell is a renowned consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hip replacement and revision surgery. He performs surgery for trauma and hip preservation. Since 2004 he's been a consultant at the Exeter Hip Unit. Mr Howell is internationally renowned as a seat of best practice and innovation in hip surgery. He is dedicated to achieving the very highest standards of safety and the best results for his patients. He is actively involved in research and keenly follows the latest developments in the field of hip surgery. Mr Howell is actively involved with the design and development of the Exeter total hip replacement system. This procedure has consistently outstanding results on joint registries around the globe. As a passionate advocate of education, Mr Howell teaches hip replacement techniques to visiting surgeons and also on international courses. He is the treasurer of the British Hip Society and aims to promote the highest level of training, education and research for his trainees so that they can also provide the very best care for patients. Mr Howell qualified in medicine in 1991, after studying for five years at King's College in London.
