Mr Kavi Patel

Biography

Having graduated from the Royal Free and University College Medical School, he completed his higher surgical training on the Cambridge rotation following which he undertook two post-CCT fellowships in complex trauma and limb reconstruction at King’s College Hospital (Graeme Groom) and St George’s Hospital (Alex Trompeter). Kavi has authored a textbook chapter, multiple peer-reviewed articles and delivered international podium presentations in his field. He has also completed a full-time Masters in Surgical Science at UCL which culminated in the publication of basic science research. A keen educator, he holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, is regular faculty on limb reconstruction/trauma courses and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer/co-director on the Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences MSc at the Blizard Institute. He is the fracture-related infection lead on the steering committee of the UK Bone & Joint Infection Registry. As an Army Reservist, Kavi has a developing role in conflict/humanitarian surgery and orthopaedic trauma care in the austere environment. Outside of work, Kavi enjoys watching/playing sport, adventure travel (ideally in the mountains) and outdoor cooking.
