Ms Yael Gelfer had completed her Higher Surgical Training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2010. She has completed her Paediatric Orthopaedic training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and has been working as a Consultant at St Georges Hospital since 2013. She is the clinical lead for the Ponseti and Neurodisability services and the research lead for the Paediatric Orthopaedic service.
Ms Gelfer is an Honorary Reader (Associate Professor) in Paediatric Orthopaedics at City- St George’s University of London and holds a PhD from the University of Surrey (2008). She is the Teaching Program Director (TPD) for Foundation Year 2 at South Thames Foundation School and an Educational Supervisor for foundation doctors.
Ms Gelfer is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS), British Orthopaedic association (BOA), European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS), British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS) and the British Society for Surgery in Cerebral Palsy (BSSCP). She is the BOA London Consultant representative for Culture and Diversity.
She is an editorial board member of the Bone and Joint Journal, an Associate Editor for Paediatrics in EFORT Open Reviews Journal, a member of the BSCOS scientific committee, a past member of the EPOS scientific committee, a reviewer of various orthopaedic journals and the chair of the BSCOS consensus group for Toe Walking management.
