Establishing the Content Validity of LIMB-Q Kids – A New Patient Reported Outcome Measure for Children with Lower Limb Deformities

Description

The presentation is led by Harpreet Chhina from BC Children's Hospital, detailing the content validation process for LIMB-Q Kids, a new patient-reported outcome measure designed for children with lower limb deformities. The talk begins with an overview of the funding sources for the study and discusses the systematic methods used in the development of this patient-reported outcome measure, including qualitative interviews with affected children and their parents across several countries. It emphasizes the importance of establishing content validity, which ensures the measure captures appropriate and comprehensive items relevant to its target population. The presenter describes a rigorous methodology involving cognitive debriefing interviews, where children expressed their understanding of the items and suggested improvements. Furthermore, collaboration with clinical experts provided insights into the relevance and comprehensiveness of the items. The presentation culminates in a summary of findings from five rounds of interviews that resulted in substantial revisions of the questionnaire, increasing its comprehensiveness and relevance. It concludes with next steps for international field testing, translation, and potential use of the measure to assess the health-related quality of life and treatment effectiveness for children with lower limb deformities.
