Robot Wars - An update on the new platforms delivering Robotic Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS Revalidation): Introduction

Description

In this introductory session led by Fred Picard, participants are welcomed to the CAOS UK Revalidation event. Fred gives an update regarding the absence of the president, Mr. Nathwani, due to a recent minor surgery, while assuring that he will join via a video presentation. The program promises significant insights into robotics in orthopedic surgery, featuring esteemed speakers such as Professor Ferdinando Rodriguez, who will share his extensive knowledge in robotic surgery, and Professor Andy Tom, who will discuss image-based robotic arm-assisted arthroplasty. Attendees will also hear from Mr. Kamal Deep on the comparisons between robotic and navigational hip replacements, alongside Mr. Akash Sharma's personal experiences using the ROSA robot. Fred emphasizes the importance of adhering to the schedule due to the travel commitments of some faculty members and anticipates a robust Q&A session following the presentations. He presents a slide summarizing industry investment in robotics and navigation technologies over recent years, setting the stage for a detailed discussion on the evolution of robotic systems in orthopedic procedures.
