Mr Roozbeh Shafafy is a consultant Spinal Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He qualified from Guys, Kings and St Thomas' medical school in London and completed specialist Trauma & Orthopaedic training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery.
Mr Shafafy has undertaken combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical training in spinal surgery. His initial subspecialist spinal fellowship training started at The Royal London Hospital including time as an honorary fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He has spent time as a travelling fellow learning from highly experienced spinal surgeons in Canada, Germany, Turkey and India before returning to the UK to complete his training under the tutelage of surgeons at the world renowned Spinal Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
Mr Shafafy specialises in the full range of both Adult and Paediatric spinal surgery. He has a particular interest in complex paediatric and adult spinal deformity. He has expertise in computer navigated surgery and maintains and an active interest in the adoption of emerging technology in spinal surgery.
Mr Shafafy is an honorary teaching fellow and lecturer at University College London where he leads the spine section of the Orthopaedic Masters programme as well as teaching on multiple national and international training courses. He has published numerous research articles and is actively involved in wide range of scientific research in spinal surgery.
